Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Financial Center (QFC) have renewed their agreement for cooperation in the areas of education, joint scientific research, student training and exchange of experiences.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by QU President Dr Hassan al Derham and QFC's Chief Executive Officer Yousuf Mohamed al Jaida.
Dr Derham stressed the importance of this initiative in building local capacities, adding that they continuously seek to strengthen their partnership with the QFC through joint cooperation in several initiatives.
Dr Derham added that the renewal of the MoU seeks to consolidate relations between the two organisations to achieve common goals, build the capacity of university students and develop the financial services sector through scientific research.
On his part, QFC CEO Yousuf Mohamed al Jaida stressed QFC's commitment to youth and education, which contributes to the development of the financial services sector in the country. Jaida added that the MoU is another example of"our joint commitment to the development of education in Qatar, focusing on research projects in the fields of finance and taxation that contribute to the creation of a knowledge-based economy".
On his part, Dean of the College of Business and Economics Dr Khalid al Abdulqader said that the training workshops organised jointly by QU and QFC have benefited more than 2,500 students. (QNA)
